After playing some piano during solo sets I have started a new feature set performed entirely on piano. I look forward to playing shows as Final Eclipse (working title Nihilist Activism) at any venue with a piano. Next gig is October 19 at Spirit Pittsburgh.
In the past year I’ve organized 63 shows at 26 venues in Pittsburgh, plus two in New Orleans, one in Chattanooga, and two in New York via my curatorial entity Inverted Music. I am still assisting with numerous shows but I am taking a break from booking in Pittsburgh. I will surely be curating some shows on my upcoming tour.
I have been putting ad hoc free improv groups together in various cities with rotating personnel, but I’m happy to have formalized my trio with Emily Cook (bass clarinet) and Cara Garofalo (violin) called Pariah Dog.
We are playing on September 1 at Gooski’s and will have more shows coming up soon!

On my last 4-day tour I played Blood Rust Fest in Asheville, with stops in Huntington, WV and Cincinnati. As uncertain as I was of the viability of this mode of touring, it turned out to be the excellent idea I hoped it would be.
I am embarking on my next one soon:

This is a video of my last performance in Europe. This is also the last time I performed any of my formative “Inalienable Dreamless” work, which was my strongest until recently. The feet are a little weak in this recording because there were noise/ neighbor restrictions.
And here is an acoustic performance of a new song from my recent Southern tour, with an impromptu dance performance by Arias Luciana:

Looking back at 2015, I wanted to bring my friends and collaborators together by sharing the performances I witnessed that moved me the most. My write-up was featured on this blog:
I like to use my Soundcloud page for rare odd and end recordings of my work. I have given more than a few one-of-a-kind performances this year, including custom built rafts, storytelling, nude living statues, classical repertoire, and various improvisation configurations. One of the solo improvised sets that I’m most proud of was captured on audio and I have shared it here. I also started a band that unfortunately didn’t make it beyond a few rehearsals. But people often ask why I don’t have a band and i tell them I try, so here is proof. If you get ideas about being involved in my next attempt, so be it!
Despite the hectic schedule, my European tour was a windfall for songwriting. The process of riffing, sketching lyrics, notating, fleshing out the songs, performing, and recording took place in less than six months with nothing more than a pencil and paper, violin, and 4-track recorder. The little notebook that collected my energy in 13 countries was a source of inspiration as I recorded alone in a Western PA cabin. The recording (now available on Bandcamp) is rough and raw and the songs will be re-done with thicker orchestrations in 2016 but I am pleased with the demo-quality rendering.
Demo cassettes (on high quality tapes) are available in the US, with a 2016 release planned as a split with my long-lost stepbrother Monsieur Marcaille on Third Type Tapes.
Friday, Oct 26: at UMass Amhearst
Saturday, Oct 17: Providence at Machines with Magnets
Sunday, Oct 18: Brooklyn at Torus Porta
Tour wrapped up even better than I even expected (I expected quite a bit) and I am now back in the USA with a notebook full of new songs, which will be my main priority aside from a couple regional tours and local shows. I performed 60 shows in 10 weeks in 13 countries, mostly booked far in advance. If you have any photos/ videos to share please e-mail them to joeymolinaro (at) gmail (dot) com, or contact me via facebook.
I plan to be back in September 2016 for a much longer tour through 2017, including the towns I visited and more. I also hope to have some of my music released on vinyl via a EU label. If you are interested in booking me or directing me to booking/ record label contacts then you can contact me via e-mail.
And of course if you are coming stateside, I would be happy to share contacts and other ideas!
The past seven weeks have been awesome! The shows are well organized and recieved. I have another stretch of shows before I return to the USA:

A million “thank-you’s” to the dozens of lovely people who supported my Kickstarter effort and gave me the economic and personal confidence to book a 40 show, 11 country, 10 week tour and release a full-length album online, on CD, and (coming soon) on cassette via Auris Apothecary.
The project resulted in a 31 volume series of merchandise reviews which were exhibited at Pittsburgh’s premiere DIY spot, Mr. Roboto Project (you can view on my twitter, #icdv), a ten date tour I booked for Sister Mary, two covers of songs available on Soundcloud, and a remix of a song by The Marches.
But the biggest thanks go to the supporters:
